LV and MV Reticulation for Commercial and Industrial Sites in Gauteng

@fnet Projects designs, supplies and installs low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) reticulation for commercial, industrial and public sector sites, from our base in Midrand, Gauteng. We take the job from load assessment and design through installation, testing and commissioning, then maintain the network after handover.

What does LV and MV reticulation cover?

Reticulation is the network that carries power from the supply point to every building, board and machine on a site. Medium voltage (MV) runs from the utility connection or a site substation, typically at 11 kV or 22 kV, and low voltage (LV) feeds the distribution boards your equipment connects to.

When reticulation is undersized or poorly maintained, the symptoms are familiar: nuisance tripping, cables running hot, voltage drop at the far end of the site and no spare capacity for new equipment. We look at the whole network, not only the fault in front of us, so the fix still holds when the site grows.

When businesses call us

  • The site is growing

New buildings, production lines or tenants need more capacity than the existing network can carry.

  • The network is ageing

Old cables and switchgear trip, run hot or no longer meet the current wiring code.

  • A new development

A new commercial or industrial site needs reticulation designed and built from the supply point out.

How it works

Four steps. One person accountable.

  1. Step 1

    Assess

We visit the site, review existing drawings and measure the load, so the design starts from real numbers.

  2. Step 2

    Quote

You get a fixed scope and price covering design, materials, installation and commissioning.

  3. Step 3

    Deliver

One project lead runs the installation, plans shutdowns around your operations and keeps you updated.

  4. Step 4

    Support

We hand over drawings and test results, and can maintain the network on a planned schedule.

Questions

How long does an LV or MV reticulation upgrade take?

It depends on the size of the site, the length of the cable runs and how many shutdowns are needed. You get a programme with the quote, and shutdowns are planned around your operating hours.

Do you work on medium voltage as well as low voltage?

Yes. We design and install both MV and LV reticulation, and liaise with the supply authority on connections where the job needs it.

Will we get a Certificate of Compliance?

Electrical installations in South Africa need a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued by a registered person. We confirm how the CoC will be issued for your installation when we quote.
